CRIME – indecent images/videos of children

Our Higher Court Advocate recently represented a mature individual with no previous convictions who faced 6 counts of downloading indecent images of children – some of the most serious kind in categories A, B and C. There were over 3000 images in category C and over 700 in each of category A and B including videos.

Sentence: a prison sentence of 8 months was imposed but was suspended for 2 years while the defendant undertook an Internet SOTP (Sex Offenders Treatment Programme). The court took into account he had already undertaken a course with the Lucy Faithful Foundation and was undergoing local counselling with a psychologist. He had excellent professional references.
